MAC Unveil Stores In Nigeria, Botswana

Leading brand of professional cosmetics, Make –up Art Cosmetics, MAC, launches into Nigeria with its first store in one of Africa’s fastest growing cites, Lagos. The brand, in partnership with Essenza Company, the number one and largest cosmetics retailer in West Africa, unveiled the store at the Ikeja City Mall, one of the most dynamic, newest shopping destinations in the city.

“We have been aware of the growth opportunities in Nigeria and the demand for M.A.C Cosmetics for some time now” says Karen Buglisi,Global Brand President, M.A.C Cosmetics.

“We are delighted that we will now be able to bring the expertise of the brand to the Nigerian consumer in our first free-standing store in Ikeja City Mall. The M.A.C store is designed to offer a destination of unrivalled artistry, services and education where the brand can be experienced at its maximum. Wide range of the product can be found to suit all skin tones from foundations to array of colours for eyes, lips and cheeks – delivering the latest in product innovation and focusing on authentic relevant shades. With the help of talented professional artists who has the latest trend, techniques and tips to share, Nigerian women will finally be able to dig up the make up look she desires.

There is a plan for a second M.A.C store to be opened in Nigeria at The Palms Mall in 2013.

Meanwhile, as part of its expansion plans to Africa; the ‘make-up’ company recently opened at the newly built Airport Junction mall in Gaborone.

“There is a higher demand of Mac products so the cosmetic brand is now branching out into other African countries. It was only in South Africa so now it has come to Botswana and the next one will be opening very soon in Lagos, Nigeria,” Botswana Mac Store Manager, Buhle Mguni said. 

M·A·C (Make-up Art Cosmetics), a subsidiary of Estée Lauder Companies, Inc was created in Toronto, Canada in 1984. The cosmetic brand was initially created by a make-up artist for professional make-up artistry that can withstand harsh lights used in photography and television production.

The company’s fame has really grown through word-of-mouth and support from makeup artists, models, photographers and journalists around the world. M·A·C is now sold in 79 countries/territories worldwide.
